MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTS

It gives us great pleasure to announce that ENDO 2026, the 5th World Congress of GI Endoscopy will take place on September 24-26, 2026. The WEO World Endoscopy Organization in partnership with three distinguished South African societies, the South African Gastroenterology Society (SAGES), The Associations of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA), as well as the South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (SASES) are delighted to hold the next congress in stunning and unique Cape Town, South Africa.

From the inaugural world congress in Hyderabad, India in 2017, the ENDO congresses have proven to be the cornerstone of endoscopic education worldwide, endorsed by both participants and industry partners alike.

WEO President, Professor Lars Aabakken, states: “The previous World Congresses were highly successful, and I am delighted to work together with our African counterparts to ensure that ENDO 2026 will uphold the high standards of past ENDO meetings. We also want to introduce an increased focus on democratisation of GI endoscopy, and the needs of underserved areas, including sub-Saharan Africa.  This way, we hope to foster improved patient care for all patients, and to capitalise on bringing together the diverse practices of GI endoscopy across the world."

Echoing the sentiments of Professor Aabakken, Dr Ernst Fredericks, President of the South African Gastroenterology Society says, “the South African Gastroenterology Society, SAGES, is thrilled to welcome the prestigious ENDO World Congress to South Africa in September 2026. This is a landmark event and provides an unparalleled opportunity to showcase South Africa as a hub for medical excellence and innovation. The Congress will not only highlight the latest advancements in endoscopy but also foster collaboration among global leaders and practitioners in the field. For the three South African societies, The South African Gastroenterology Society (SAGES),  The Association of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA), and The South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (SASES), it signifies a moment to elevate the profile of endoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, and surgical care in South Africa and beyond. Co-hosting ENDO 2026 will bring immense benefits to our medical communities, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, and the introduction of cutting-edge techniques that will directly enhance patient care. Together, we are proud to support this momentous event and are excited about the inspiration and opportunities it will bring to the African continent.”

The ENDO 2026 Scientific Programme will include exciting live demonstrations, comprehensive hands-on training sessions, keynote speaker lectures, scientific symposia, a learning centre, top-notch local and international faculty, and much more.ENDO 2026 is the perfect platform for you to reach developing markets, get closer to your target audience and establish valuable relationships. We look forward to receiving your great support as industry partners in order to continue to elevate the standard of endoscopy globally and very much hope to welcome you to ENDO 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa.
